As a proud member of the NLCC Carlplace, you’ll embark on an extraordinary journey of personal growth and exploration. Our program is open to youth aged 9 to 12, offering a unique opportunity to develop essential life skills while fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and patriotism. Through a combination of hands-on activities, engaging classroom instruction, and exciting field trips, cadets gain invaluable knowledge about naval traditions, history, and operations.
As a cadet, you’ll have the chance to participate in drill and ceremonies, community service projects, and leadership development exercises that will enhance your confidence and decision-making abilities. Our dedicated instructors provide mentorship and guidance to help you navigate your journey. They inspire a spirit of teamwork, integrity, and respect, setting the stage for lifelong friendships and meaningful connections with fellow cadets.

Commanding Officer (CO) – A/SLt (NL) Dan Demedeiros – The Commanding Officer is responsible for the delivery of all aspects of the training program, ensuring that it is delivered in a safe and engaging manner for all cadets. The Commanding Officer is the local supervisor of all adult staff and volunteers.
Executive Officer (XO) – SLt(NL) Meridith Douglas – The Executive Officer oversees and mentors local staff and volunteers while ensuring that the Commanding Officer’s directives and orders are implemented and followed. Stands in for the Commanding Officer when they are away.
Administration Officer (Admin O) – Sarah Wall – The Administration Officer hands out and completes all paperwork within the unit, including enrollment of cadets, attendance, and validates personal information.
Training Officers (Trg O) – SLt (NL) Meridith Douglas & SLt (NL) Sam Dobias – The Training Officer schedules and plans weekly training, ensuring that classes have qualified instructors, space, and resources necessary. They also monitor classes and evaluate instructors to ensure a high standard of instruction.
Supply Officers (Sup O) – MID (NL) Jessica Scott & Sarah Wall – The Supply Officers ensures that cadets are outfitted in uniform parts that fit and that all badges earned are handed out to cadets. Additionally, they are responsible for ordering and maintain uniform and kit at the unit.
First Aid Officer (FA O) – MID (NL) Jason Dupuis – The First Aid Officer is responsible for the health and safety of all cadets, staff, and volunteers during training and events. They ensure that first aid supplies are stocked and provide care when needed. The First Aid Officer also conducts training sessions on basic first aid to ensure that cadets are prepared to handle minor injuries and medical situations.
Drill Officer (Drill O) – MID (NL) Jessica Scott – The Drill Officer is responsible for instructing cadets in drill and ceremonial procedures. They ensure that all cadets are proficient in marching, saluting, and other drill movements for parades and other formal events.
